Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic Massage includes various modalities that work towards relieving pain, reducing stress, and solving a specific physical issue, such as chronic hip pain or frozen shoulder. Oftentimes a therapeutic massage session can include a few different types of massage, including but not limited to myofascial, deep tissue, and trigger point therapy, to address pain in one's body. Therapeutic massage is a sort of guessing game, a hunt for the root cause. Addressing symptoms is important, but understanding and handling the originator of pain can eradicate it for a long time, if not forever. This is a process, though, one that can take time, patience, and dedication. In becoming my client, I will devote my time and energy to embarking on this process with you. I will deduce and assess potential sources of your pain and use the variety of modalities in my tool kit to address each one until together we find the root cause and gain control of it.

The Process of Healing
Deep Tissue
this technique uses Slow, firm, and long massage strokes that aim at targeting deep fascia and muscle tissue in order to release built up tension and adhesion's. This sort of massage is great for those with chronic pain, hyper-tonic muscles, limited range of motion, and general tension / knots. Oftentimes it is deep tissue work that can relieve severe pain, help get rid of long-lasting pain, and heal injuries.
Myofascial
Myofascial Techniques work directly with either the superficial or deep layers of fascia that exist throughout the entire body. Often, chronic pain, lack of range of motion, injuries, ect. can be the result of adhesion's within one's fascia rather than the muscles themselves. Pain can additionally be the result of both fascia and muscle related issues, but seeing as fascia encases all muscles, it must be dealt with first. Myofascial techniques are slow, and client's occasionally do not feel much during the session, but the beneficial results are undeniable and truly mind blowing.
Swedish / Relaxation
The classic, wonderful, relaxation massage that we all know and love. soft, flowing, efflurage strokes paired with slightly deeper work if desired. allows for the parasympathetic nervous system to ignite, thereby decreasing stress & anxiety. this technique is perfect for those who wish to take a break from reality and simply relax deeply.
Craniosacral
This technique uses prolonged holds throughout the body to tap into the nervous system and significantly calm it down. This is a very slow, relaxing type of massage and is best suited for individuals who have a very hard time relaxing or getting into a calm space. I especially like to use craniosacral at the beginning of a session to fully relax a client who otherwise has a difficult time getting there.
Sports Massage
There are different types of sports massage, Pre event massage is used a few days to a week or so before any sort of sports event and includes jostling, shaking, stretching and stimulating techniques to warm and activate muscles so an athlete's body is prepared to do what it needs to do. Event massage is short and used to keep muscles warm and ready to work hard. Post event massage is similar to deep tissue and focuses on recovery and addressing any injuries or areas of tension.
